About GearBasis

GearBasis is edited by Scott Stevens from a founder-operator point of view. The site is for readers who want useful hardware but do not want a shopping page pretending every new device is progress.

The house view is simple: read the avoid-if before the upside. A product can be a good candidate and still be wrong for a renter, a US-only wall box, an Apple-only household, a noisy room, a small kitchen, or a person who will not keep another app updated.

The site uses official product pages, support documents, source URLs, product records, and clearly labelled field notes. It does not publish live prices, stock states, star ratings, countdowns, or hands-on testing claims unless the content record supports them.
